Enzo Lipley (He/Him - E(f)/Ei)

I am a sound designer and audio technician based in South Wales and Cardiff, currently studying BA (Hons) Stage Management & Technical Theatre at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. My practice sits at the intersection of technical precision and creative storytelling, working across theatre and live performance to shape sound that supports and responds to action on stage.

I am drawn to the process of building sound from the rehearsal room onwards—developing ideas collaboratively and refining them through production. I am particularly interested in creating immersive, narrative-led soundscapes for theatre and live performance, where sound plays an active role in shaping atmosphere, emotion, and storytelling.

Practice

My experience includes sound design, playback programming, live mixing, and technical operation across a range of theatrical environments. I regularly work with QLab, Logic Pro, and Ableton Live Suite, designing and running cue-based playback systems for performance, including managing cue execution during technical rehearsals and live shows under fast-changing conditions.

Live Sound & Technical Work

Alongside theatre, I have worked in live music environments mixing bands and vocals on Yamaha QL and CL series, Allen & Heath dLive systems, and DiGiCo consoles, as well as using Dante audio networking for routed and distributed systems. I also have studio experience recording and editing both instrumental and vocal material.

Recognition

My work has been recognised with the Porthcawl Little Theatre Award, reflecting my commitment to detailed, responsive, and reliable sound work in live performance.

In addition to this I have received the Cardiff New Theatre Society (1955-1997) Arthur Morris Jones Award during my studies at RWCMD in recognition of the high standard of my work and contributions to the College during my second year of my degree.
